Congratulations Okoboji Digital Media Productions Class!

Northwest Bank visited local schools to present the opportunity to participate in the ABA Education Foundation’s Lights, Camera, Save! video contest! This competition encourages young people to use video to communicate the value of saving and inspire others to become lifelong savers.

On February 1, 2013 the Iowa Bankers Association announced that the video entry submitted by the Okoboji Digital Media Productions class titled “Dr. D – Teen Super  Spenders” was selected as the winner of the first ever Iowa Lights, Camera, Save! video contest! The Okoboji Digital Media Productions Class has won $1000, plus $250 towards the school’s technology or audio/visual related needs. Their entry was submitted to the Lights, Camera, Save! video contest via Northwest Bank.

In addition, “Dr. D – Teen Super Spenders” has been selected as one of the 8 finalists in the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) national Lights, Camera, Save! video contest! The national contest winners will be announced on February 28th.

Lights, Camera, Save! is a part of the Teach Children to Save campaign, a national movement of volunteer bankers who guide young people towards lifelong savings habits. Since 1997, the campaign has reached some 5 million young people with the help of more than 100,000 banker volunteers. Lights, Camera, Save! allows teens to role play and record their thoughts about saving and using money wisely. It’s a way to get kids thinking about money management and its relevance to their lives and future. In 2012, Northwest Bank was able to educate over 1,800 students in our participation of the ABA's Teach Children to Save Program!
