Northwest Bank was recently selected as the 2014 Healthiest Large Employer of Western Iowa! Northwest Bank believes in building strong connections between its employees and customers as well as throughout the communities they serve. The bank offers a variety of services and programs to help employees stay healthy both mentally and physically, along with 3 locations designated as Blue Zones Worksites. Blue Zones Worksites are businesses that promote well-being to their employees and to the larger community by making healthy choices easier.

“It’s about our employees feeling good and taking care of themselves and everything that affects them,” said Wendy McMullen, Northwest Bank’s Senior Vice President and Human Resources Director. “Often, our nonstop, hectic lives make it easy to lose track of what is truly meaningful, especially when it comes to our own well-being.”

Northwest Bank offers several health and wellness programs to its employees, including an Employee Assistance Program and a new wellness benefit that encourages participation in recreational activities. The bank sponsors up to 50 percent of single membership fees and reimburses up to $500 per employee annually. In addition, Live Healthy Iowa programs are offered at no cost to all employees promoting weight loss and healthy eating through community events.  “It’s fun to watch employees work together on wellness and to share their successes and encourage others to join them,” McMullen stated.

Northwest Bank hopes that its involvement in the Healthiest Employers of Iowa award program will encourage other companies to implement wellness programs for their employees. “If we all work together, we can impact the lives or our employees and their families, our customers and our communities,” commented McMullen. “The results can carry forward into future generations.”

Northwest Bank is a $1.35 billion community bank that offers a full line of business, agricultural, mortgage, consumer deposit and lending services as well as wealth management services. Northwest Bank has offices located in Algona, Arnolds Park, Ankeny, Belmond, Estherville, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Le Mars, Milford, Sioux Center, Sioux City, Spencer, Spirit Lake, Storm Lake, West Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha and La Vista, Nebraska.
