Northwest Bank's Financial Literacy Program
Students in our local community schools have adopted a new web-based e-learning platform with the sponsorship from Northwest Bank, taking part in a statewide financial literacy initiative. The Iowa Bankers Association, its member banks and the Iowa College Student Aid Commission have partnered with EverFi, Inc. to deliver the program at no cost to schools. The online course uses the latest in new media technologies—adaptive-pathing, 3-D gaming, social networking, online animations, video, and messaging tools—to bring complex financial concepts to life. Through the Northwest Financial Literacy program, students will get certified in over 600 topics in financial education and become more informed financial citizens.
The 10-unit course offers 6 hours of programming aimed at teaching, assessing and certifying students in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts. The system tracks the progress and score of every student uniquely and provides students who successfully complete the course with a Certification in Financial Literacy that can be a powerful tool on college applications, resumes, and more.
Northwest Bank has made a three-year commitment to this initiative and remains dedicated to promoting financial literacy across the community.
